I’m making a real effort to include more handknits in my me-made-March efforts. Here is today:
Shawl: Shetland Triangle by Evelyn A. Clark. I knit this quite awhile ago – the photos on my Ravelry page are from before we bought our house!
The rest of my outfit is not exciting – today I have a concert, so it’s all black again.

Yesterday it was nearly 80 degrees. Today? 40. Yes, that’s what weather is like in March. I have to drive to Carrollton, KY tonight, so I actually care what to weather is (I am bad, since I work at home, to just adjust my home temperature to however I want to dress.)
And… I finished knitting the Damask shawl. Yes, already. I really think my single-mindedness is what kills my knitting mojo. I cannot work on two things at the same time, no matter how hard I try! So when I start sewing something, I inevitably forget to work on my knitting. I made sure to finish this in one go, but I don’t always have the patience. Here is is unblocked (doesn’t look like much!)
I’m not great at blocking shawls, I know I don’t use enough pins or worry about things being perfectly even. What’s the use, when I know it’s going to get many layers of cat hair on it while its wet?
Leon would like you to know that he is definitely not thinking about laying on that the second my back is turned… no sir. What is it with cats and wet things? Is it only my cat? He loves to sleep on blocking sweaters more than just about anything!
I will have a finished post for the shawl once it’s all blocked. I’m hoping it turns out pretty! After I get back from my concert tonight, I plan to start my new dress (single-minded, I tell you.)

it’s not just your cat. my cats love wet wool as well. and sometimes dry wool. and especially wool that’s in a ball that rolls around as it’s being knit. bonus points if it’s expensive.
i block things in my craft room/closet where i can close the door.
That’s funny! He looks like he is just waiting for you to walk away. My cat will curl up and sleep on whatever project I’m working on at the moment.
I love mini-shawls too (though I only have one right now, an ishbel). Have you considered blocking wires? I’ve never used them but they are so on my extra knitting supplies wish list.
Nope not just Cats, if I leave woolen jumpers on the floor on a towl to dry my ‘pup’ Cohen ALWAYS curls up on them!
You must knit like lightning! That is so gorgeous, even unblocked.
My cats also love blocked things, pins or wires. And they really love sinking the claws into the foam blocking squares I use under the knitted items. 🙂
My cats love the blocking too. I put a light sheet or a couple of light old towels over my blocking so that the cats can lay on it without the risk of hair or pulls.
I’m so glad your cat is into everything you do too! Doesn’t matter if it’s wet or dry, my cat is into everything. Just so long as she can get a nose … and a foot in, to see what’s going on.
Doesn’t look like much? Looks pretty awesome to me. That’s coming from someone who’s only ever managed to knit one long scarf.

It may actually be the smell. One of my two cats is excessively interested in the smell of wool/lanolin, and that smell is definitely amplified when wet!
Your cat is SO sweet! Is Leon a Forest Cat?? I have a Siberian Forest Cat, Sadie, and she LOVES it when I do blocking. I have to lay a light sheet over my blocking at night, otherwise I wake up to blobs of cat fur all over and half the pins pulled out. She loves the pins and I’m always afraid she’ll end up swallowing one. Sadie is drawn to knitting like a magnet, it’s so comfy to lay on ya’ know. 🙂
