So it’s possible that in the past I may have claimed to hate Noro yarns. Feels like twine… makes my hands ache etc. I now take that back (well, I still hate Silk Garden and Kureyon) because I have a new love!
This lovely yarn is Noro Kochoran (wool, angora, and I think silk) colorway #1. OK, so I haven’t knit with it yet, but it’s soft and lovely! I love the colors, which are very muted for Noro. I am on a quest to find non-alpaca soft yarns since my allergy appeared. I plan to make a very plain scarf out of this yarn (I have two skeins) to match my new winter coat!
I love this coat! Actually, I love coats in general… our coat closet is stuffed full of them (I must have 7 or 8 wool coats) and I get so excited every year when it’s coat season (sadly, it’s still in the 80s here… where is fall?)
I’ve finished the top half of the tilted duster (fronts, back, and sleeves) and will seam them tonight so that I can begin the skirt. This project is so quick, and I love that it’s knit in so many pieces!
Now I must get ready for 4 hours of teaching… Wednesdays are rough for me (I get so tired teaching) but it’s ok because tomorrow begins my weekend, and Marc has promised we will go for sushi!

Very cute coat! I’ve heard that really you shouldn’t have more than one or two coats per person. Silly people. I have multiple coats and jackets and I live in a place where winter is a figment of our imagination.
Did you get that coat at VS? They really have a lot of great ones this year!
I know what you mean about Noro. I like Transitions and the Kochoran (but the Tran has alpaca). I was lured into everybody’s love of Silk Garden and now I have a lovely Argosy that it pains me to wear.

i think you are the only person i ‘know’ (i.e., read or know personally, you know?) who LIKES projects that are knit up in many pieces. because seaming is evil and top-down in-the-round knits are priceless!

I love knitting things with several pieces too! It allows me to have smaller “goals”, making me feel I’ve accomplished something with each new piece that is completed. I’m not super fond of seaming, but it gets easier with each new project I do, and I find I don’t mind it so much.

If you have not purchased that coat yet — do it! It’s fabulous. I think you cannot have too many coats, jackets, trench-coats, anoraks, … I can’t think of any other categories but you know what I mean!
An alpaca allergy?! Oh, I’m so sorry! I am happy to hear about the Kochoran, though, since I, too, have been a Noro hater since I made my Silk Garden sweater (which, ironically, is still one of my favorite sweaters, despite the scratchiness). And I know an online shop that has it on sale right now. Time for a little stash enhancement!
Ohh, Kochoran is like night and day from Silk Garden/Kureyon – I love the sweater I made with my Kochoran.
Um, by the way…when the sweater’s worth of Kochoran shows up on my doorstep, can I tell my husband it’s yours?
